The first time I heard the name John Corey I was in a library of books that were no longer wanted  or waiting for someone else to enjoy them the second time around.  Luckily for me anything with island or anything to do with pirates on the cover immediately warrants my attention.  I was introduced to Detective Corey in my readings of “Plum Island”, what better way to waste my days in the desert than reading a book that takes places not far from my home.  To even make the book better the main character was as cynical as I am, there was hidden treasure from Captain Kid himself, government cover ups and a good spiel about who done it?  I had a good time getting my mind off of real life and delving into what it would be like for a NYPD detective laying low after a shootout and being shot 3 times and enjoying the family real estate on long island.  I learned a bit about what it was like to live across the sound, such as the wine industry that thrives there due to an almost completely different weather pattern keep those nice vineyards producing yellow and red colored alcohol.  Yum.

Now come back to more present day, I just happened to be in a book store and I was looking for more detective or maybe goverment assassin action.  I came upon other books by a Mr. Nelson Demille.  The same guy that invented John Corey’s character.  So of course the first thing I did was skim through to see other novels involving Mr. Corey.  I ponder through a list and only notice that one of the books featuring Corey is actually on the shelf.  I couldn’t wait and didn’t care if I read them out of order, sometimes that makes a better story, you know reading a story not in the order the author intentended.

The title “Night Fall” seems a little bit over cliche in my point, especially with a Boeing 747 flying across the cover.  However reading the first few chapters I can already tell I missed out on some back story from the “Lions Games” however they didn’t seem to be to big.  I don’t want to ruin any details of the book but I do want to point out this book highlights some of the more recent events in what I like to call the made up war of “Terrorism”.  Don’t get more wrong there are some people that just don’t fit and agree with our overly capitalistic and money greedy society, those must be the bad guys.(Don’t Worry this will continue to be covered and ranted about in America Inc.)  However I think that in “Night Fall” some of the points that were not heard such as “warning signs” and the politics surrounding the whole axis of evil Jihad.  It covers not in an official manner or exact details on inter agency relations with the various parts of America’s frontline defense to thwart people that would claim that American’s showing of their bodies ex. Boobage, is causing earth quakes.(Go Boobs, even if they are plastic.)

I would recommend the John Corey books to anyone that is interested or at least want’s to hear just how complicated it could be on a case chasing terrorists or just the local debonair.   I can say these book definitely help me think a little better at night, how important is facebook really?  And how good are the actual stories from your friend feed, take some time to read a real story.
